Meet the selected candidates of Cohort 5: Teach for Mongolia Fellowship 2026–2028

After a rigorous multi-stage selection process, we are thrilled to announce the finalists of the Teach for Mongolia Fellowship 2026–2028. From a competitive pool of applicants, these exceptional young leaders have successfully cleared all rounds of selection and earned their place in the final cohort. Driven by a passion for educational change and a commitment to lead, they are now on their way to becoming the next generation of education leaders in Mongolia. Here is a snapshot of who they are:

  • Where they come from: 64% of selected fellows are currently based in Ulaanbaatar, while 36% come from rural provinces across Mongolia — bringing regional diversity and firsthand understanding of local education realities into the cohort.

  • Gender breakdown: 89% of finalists are women and 11% are men, reflecting the strong representation of women in Mongolia's emerging education leadership pipeline.

  • Educational background: 77.8% of finalists hold a bachelor's degree or higher, while 22% are fresh graduates completing their studies this spring. Notably, the majority of this year's cohort are young professionals who already bring meaningful work experience to the program.

  • Professional backgrounds: 73.7% of finalists come from non-teaching professions, while 26.3% have a background in education. In terms of academic disciplines, the cohort represents a rich cross-section of fields: 31% studied education or educational research, 26% social sciences, 15% banking and finance, 15% natural sciences, and 10% humanities. This diversity of expertise creates a powerful opportunity to bring multi-sector knowledge and fresh perspectives into Mongolian classrooms.

Cohort 5 Orientation Meeting

On May 15th, we welcomed the newest candidates of the Teach for Mongolia family as the 5th cohort of the Teach for Mongolia fellowship program gathered for their official program orientation.

The session gave incoming fellows their first in-depth look at the Fellowship — covering the core structure and vision of the program, the format and expectations of the Summer Institute training, and the range of support and resources available to fellows throughout their journey. It was an exciting milestone marking the beginning of a new chapter — not just for our newest cohort, but for the communities and students they will soon serve.

Teach for Mongolia at the University of Humanities - Job Fair

On the 8th of last month, we had the pleasure of joining the Job Fair at the University of Humanities. At our booth, we connected with students one-on-one, sharing detailed information about the application process and what the Teach for Mongolia Fellowship program has to offer — giving the next generation of potential fellows a closer look at what it means to be part of this movement.

On May 23rd, the Teach for Mongolia team — joined by program alumni and current fellows — took to the streets together at the Ulaanbaatar Marathon 2026, one of the city's international running events. As a team, we completed the 5km race, embodying the spirit of health, energy, and active living that we believe in not just inside the classroom, but in everything we do. It was a joyful reminder that the TfM community runs together — in more ways than one. šŸŒ±šŸƒā€ā™‚ļøšŸƒā€ā™€ļø
